Tools That I May Use During Your Treatment:

When you come for your appointment, you can expect one or more of these Traditional Chinese Medicine treatment strategies to be used:

  • Acupuncture - the insertion of very fine, sterile, single-use needles that are placed in specific points based on the symptoms that you're presenting with the goal of bringing balance and promoting wellness in the body.

  • Moxibustion - the use of mugwort warms acupuncture points to stimulate your body's healing processes further.

  • Herbal Formulations - I will build a custom formula of herbs that will work with the acupuncture treatment. These formulas are specific to your condition.

  • Tuina - Tuina is a series of massage techniques that help to activate circulation and oxygenation of your body's tissues. Similarly to Swedish massage, we are increasing circulation to alleviate pain and increase mobility and balance.

  • Guasha - Rubbing the skin with a jade, bone, or ceramic tool to stimulate circulation of blood to the local area.

  • Cupping - Glass cups create suction on the skin to stimulate circulation in the local area. This type of therapy is great for moving lactic acid to reduce sore and stiff muscles. This can be thought of as a "reverse massage" whereas instead of pushing down into the tissue, it's being sucked up into the cup to promote the circulation of fresh blood and oxygen into the affected tissues.

  • Electrical Stimulation: The use of a small battery-powered machine which outputs milli- and micro- amperage currents that are used to stimulate acupuncture points. This therapy reduces inflammation, releases endorphins, and can even block pain signals making this a very effective tool for pain management.

  • Nutritional Counseling - What we put into our bodies for food is equally as important for our health. We may discuss what you're currently eating, as well as things to add or take away from the diet to see if it helps you feel better.

I am also now offering Massage, Sound Healing, and Reiki sessions:

  • Massage - manual manipulation of muscle tissue to increase circulation, alleviate muscle pain, release trigger points and adhesions, and to increase relaxation and wellbeing.

  • Sound Healing - Tuning forks emit a single frequency, and produce a sense of movement when used in pairs. Using a set of tuning forks based on the perfect 5th, different combinations of pairs, applied at the ears help the body to relax deeply, allowing you to heal on an energetic level, as well as a physical level thanks to your active parasympathetic nervous response.

  • Reiki - A form of hands-on energy healing originated by Mikao Usui (1865-1926) in Japan. Practitioners channel and guide this energy for their clients using a series of hand positions which may be performed on or above the body. This service can be performed in person or at a distance.

Various herbs, cupping therapy cups, and acupuncture needles sit on a book with chinese characters.
